Sticky Church Blog Tour

sticky-church-418s2dmlx7l_sl160_I’m excited to have been invited to join the Blog Tour for Sticky Church by Larry Osborne. SmallGroups.com is taking an interesting approach to this tour, inviting 19 different bloggers to each review a chapter. That should give you a great overview of this valuable resource.

Larry is lead pastor of North Coast Church in northern San Diego County (CA), which has grown from 128 to several thousand and is recognized as one of the most influential and innovative churches in America. Larry speaks extensively on the subject of leadership and developing healthy ministry teams. In addition, he serves with me as an advisor to Christianity Today’s SmallGroups.com.

Larry’s approach to church leadership and growth is to close the back door. He maintains that it does little good to draw people in the front door if they quickly exit the back door. He’d rather keep visitors and minister to them. He calls a church that keeps visitors a “sticky church” and believes that a sticky church is a healthy church. I tend to agree with him. And his key to being sticky is sermon-based small groups.

My post is on Friday, looking at one of my favorite topics: “Why Dividing Groups is a Dumb Idea.” I can’t wait! Meanwhile, check out the other blogs on the tour. You’ll not only gain a great overview of this resource, but you’ll also meet some great friends of small groups.
