Small Group Check Up

February 7, 2008 |

How do you check the pulse of your group? When I’m leading a group, I like to do a periodic check up to see how we’re doing. Below are some of the questions I’ll distribute to members and ask for their honest feedback. We may or may not discuss them, depending on the group. People can sign their names or not. The most important thing is conduct a periodic evaluation so you can make a midcourse correction as needed. Here are some questions I like to include in a periodic check up:

How effective are we at becoming followers of Jesus?

How are we helping one other become fruitful disciples?

How has the group helped you grow?

Where are you compared to a month ago? Six months ago? A year ago?

Where do you think the other members are compared to a month ago? Six months ago? A year ago?

How are we developing stronger relationships?

How do we make you feel loved and valued?

How do our relationships affect your everyday life?

What problems hinder our openness and honesty with each other?

How effectively are we developing new leaders?

What opportunities have you had to grow in leadership skills?

What opportunities have you had to grow in your spiritual gifts?

What opportunities have you had to identify and optimize your individual strengths?

What opportunities have you had to identify and conquer your individual weaknesses?

How would you describe our group to other people?

What are the strong points of our group?

How can we enhance those strengths?

What are the weak points of our group?

How can we address those weaknesses?

How has our group affected the people around us who are not in the group or those who do not yet know Jesus as Savior?

How can we be a better witness to Christ?

How can we better serve other people?
