The Praying Leader

The Zone Gathering, the online community for leaders of National Community Church, has a wonderful post on the importance of prayer for leaders. I know this is a constant problem for many of us. We get so busy doing the work of the Lord that it’s easy to leave him out. I know that life and groups go better when I seek Him first, not as a last resort. But how often I rush ahead of God when I know (or think I know) how to do something.

I think this is a particular problem for gifted people. I consciously seek ministries that are over my head, beyond my natural and spiritual gifting, because quite frankly, that’s the only way I know it’s God and not me doing the work.
