Gary Sweeten Review

July 23, 2007 |

My friend, Gary Sweeten, has posted an excellent review of Why Didn’t You Warn Me? on his blog. I quote Gary several times in the book. He has taught me more than almost any other person in terms of communication, renewing the mind, counseling skills, and inner healing. When he was with the LIFE Conferences that he founded, I had the opportunity to both take and then teach several of his classes. Much of his thinking is reflected in the book, even where not credited, since it has become so foundational in my thinking and ministry.

Gary has an interesting new ministry.  He’s working to get churches to take advantage of the resources and gifts of seasoned believers, those who have been in the church for 30 years or so. Seems that so many churches these days are aimed at younger people and seekers, with the seasoned citizens being relegated to the back rows. It will be interesting to see what he is able to do with this. As one of those seasoned believers, I would love to have a greater role in shaping ministry and helping to plant new believers.

Look for an article inspired by Gary’s teaching in the July-August newsletter, which will be sent out the first week in August.
