How about a Marriage Group?
July 11, 2007 |
Marie Guthrie offers an excellent article on CT’s Marriage Partnership on the value of a couples’ group, and especially leading one. She’s honest about the joys and struggles, and how she and her husband grew by getting real in their first group and then leading together. She also gives a great overview of how to get started. Good read if you’re leading a couples group.
My husband and I were part of a marriage group about 20 years ago. It was a rich experience as we shared our deepest needs and hurts with others experiencing the same things. I think the most healing part was realizing that we weren’t the only couple in the church that was struggling with marriage and new parenthood. As each couple opened up, one by one, you could see the surprise and amazement. And the bravery of the first couple gave each of the next couples the courage to be honest. As the hidden was exposed to the light, each couple healed. Great experience.
