Fibromyalgia Awareness Day May 12
May 11, 2007 |
In a follow-up to my post on Chronically Ill are a Challenging Group, I want to alert you that May 12 is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. Read more about the symptoms of fibromyalgia (FMS) and please be gentle with those who tell you they have this disease or others with invisible symptoms.
I had FMS for several months before being supernaturally healed. Those were some of the worst months of my life! The pain was 24/7 unbearable, as was the fatigue. But I didn’t have a broken leg or hair falling out—nothing that made me look sick—but I suddenly couldn’t handle all I had previously. I wasn’t a lot of fun to be with. I’m so grateful to the man who prayed for me and to the Lord for healing me. But that experience has made me incredibly sensitive to others who are still coping with this disorder.

Dear Pat, I am ministering to a friend, who has fibromyalgia. If there is any information, please pass it on to me. She is alone with this.

I don’t know a lot, and I know that there are a lot of different theories about causes. Personally, I believe there is a large spiritual element in it. Everyone I know who has FMS has an abuse background, and when that trauma is healed, often the FMS leaves as well. My healing came with some spiritual deliverance, but I also had to contend for it. I spent about three months denying the pain that would return and declaring God’s healing. It worked… But I also know people for whom the same approaches haven’t worked. I would encourage your friend to stay in the Word and seek God’s word for her.
